Bengaluru, September 3: A shocking incident of ragging has come to light from Karnataka, where a second-year student of BBA aviation at a private college was allegedly ragged and assaulted by his seniors. It is alleged that the student was ragged for not following the seniors' instructions to shave his beard and moustache. The 21-year-old student is reportedly said to have suffered a fractured hand and a forehead injury in the alleged assault.

Police officials said that the victim is a student of the Krupanidhi Group of Institutions in Chikka Bellandur, reports TOI. While the three seniors who ragged the victim were identified as Xavier, Vishnu and Sarath. Cops said that the victim and the accused were all students of the same college. The victim said that the three seniors raised objections to him having a beard and moustache when he walked into the college in April. The victim also claimed that the seniors had asked him to clean, shave, and come the next day. However, the seniors started ragging him because he did not follow their instructions. On one occasion, the three seniors also visited his rented house while he was in his native place.

On Friday, August 30, one of three three seniors called the victim to meet, who went with his roommates. During the meeting, the trio started fighting with the victim over him not following their instructions. When the victim refused to get clean-shaven, they started abusing him and even assaulted him. While the victim was undergoing treatment at the hospital, the three seniors visited and threatened him there, too. Meanwhile, college authorities have assured action against the assaulters. The cops have issued a notice to assaulters to record their statements before the investigating officer.
