Rafale Jet Deal: Goa Congress Writes to President Kovind Demanding Enhanced Security to Manohar Parrikar

Panaji, January 5: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), headed by Girish Chodankar, has written a letter to President of India Ram Nath Kovind seeking enhanced security cover for Chief Minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar. In the letter, GPCC alleged that Parrikar's life is in danger as he has details about the Rafale deal. Goa Pradesh Congress Committee in a letter to President Kovind wrote, "There may be attempts on his life to obtain files from those who want that details of Rafale deal should not come in public domain as corruption in the deal will be proved." Rafale Audio Clip: Congress Trying to Fabricate Facts, Says Goa CM Manohar Parrikar.

This comes after the Congress has alleged that Goa CM possesses all files related to the controversial Rafale jet deal. Parikkar was the defence minister when the Rafale deal was signed with Dassault Aviation, French defence manufacturing giant.

Addressing media on January 3, Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala came out with a conversation purportedly between Goa Health minister Vishwajit Rane and another person.

In the audio clip (not verified of its authenticity), Rane can be heard saying that during a Goa cabinet meeting last week Parrikar stated he had an entire file and all documents relating to the Rafale Jet deal lying in his bedroom, Surjewala claimed, playing the conversation for the media outside Parliament.

"There were corruption and wrongdoing in the Rafale scam and it is all recorded in the files. Those files are with Mr. Parrikar. Why are they being hidden? If Mr. Modi has nothing to hide, then why is Mr. Parrikar keeping those files in his bedroom and threatening everybody that nobody can do anything against him, for he has the Rafale files," Surjewala alleged.
