Kolkata, March 9: The statue of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore was vandalised in Bidhannagar area of Kolkata on Friday. Initial reports say that three miscreants were involved in the incident. However, the possibility of more people indulging in this shameful act can’t be neglected.
Informing more, Trinamool Congress councillor from Bidhannagar Nirmal Dutta stated that as per to his sources, only three miscreants were involved in this act. He added that soon after the incident, one of the three miscreants was caught, while two others managed to flee. Though the reason for this act is yet to be ascertained, the police are investigating the matter now. Dutta said, as quoted by ANI, “Three men vandalised the statue, we caught one of them while the other two managed to escape. We don’t know why they did it. The one who was caught has been handed over to the police.”

However, there has been no comments from the opposition Left front or BJP after the incident, until the report was filed.
