Lucknow, December 31: Days after being criticised for advising students to ‘beat up the other person if they got into a fight and, if possible, murder that person, instead of coming to him’, Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University’s Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Rajaram Yadav made an attempt to clarify his remarks by stating that he was just trying to ‘motivate’ students.

Criticised all across, Prof. Yadav accused media in his statement, which said, as The Hindustan Times reports, “My statement was intended at motivating students and boosting their confidence. I also tried to inculcate zeal and encouraged them towards their goals. Fighting for one’s right, if he is correct, is not wrong. He should not pull back.” Uttar Pradesh Shocker: Purvanchal University VC Suggests Students to Murder Those Who Argue With Them, States Rest Would Be Taken Care of; Watch Video.

Adding on, he said that he wouldn’t back down from his statement. Yadav reiterated, “I am firm on my stand. I will keep filling fresh zeal in the students to make them brave in order that they can deal with the odds and work hard for achieving their goals.”

Earlier, Yadav attended the Satyadev Degree College event and spoke at a seminar on ‘Challenges in Higher Education’, attended by hundreds of students. While addressing the students, the Purvanchal VC stated made a controversial statement and suggested the students to murder the person they ever get into an argument with, and rest would be taken care by him.

A video of the speech became viral in which he stated, “ Agar aap Purvanchal Vishwavidyala ke chhatra ho to rote hue mere paas kabhi mat aana.. Ek baat bta deta hu… Agar kisi se jhagda ho jaaye to uski pitai karke aana.. Aur tumhara bas chale to uska murder karke aana… Iske baad hum dekh lenge (If you are Purvanchal University’s students then never come crying to me. I tell you one thing. If you ever get into an argument with someone then come back after beating him up. And if you can, then come back after murdering the person. I would take care of it later).”

Now, with two statements, completing each other, it would be interesting to see whether Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath takes stern action on him or allows him to continue at the top post with this ‘mindset’.
