Jalandhar, October 10: In a major breakthrough for Punjab Police, four students including three Kashmiri were arrested on Wednesday with explosive weapons from Jalandhar. Sources told LatestLY that a fifth person was arrested from Chandigarh. In the late night raids conducted by the Punjab police, five AK -47s were recovered from the hostel of the CT Institute. Jammu and Kashmir police gave information to the Punjab police about seven suspects, out which five were arrested.
The joint team of Amritsar’s Counter Intelligence Team and the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted the raid on the hostel of the institute. RDX was also recovered from the students. According to sources, they were planning to conduct blast in crowded Jyoti Chowk area of the city on the occasion of Dussehra. However, the security agencies have not revealed the names of the students. The police are conducting further investigation into the matter. According to reports, the arrested students work for the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH) and Jaish- e- Mohammed terror groups. Incidentally, Rashtriya Sawayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is also in the city for three days to attend an event.
