Punjab Shocker: Dalit Man Thrashed by Four Men in Sangrur, Forced to Drink Urine When He Asked for Water
Reports inform that the incident took place over an old dispute between the Dalit man and four men of the area. The four men were booked for brutally beating a 37-year-old man and torturing him.
Chandigarh, November 15: In a shocking incident, a Dalit man was brutally thrashed by several locals and was allegedly forced to drink urine in Punjab’s Sangrur district. Reports inform that the incident took place over an old dispute between the Dalit man and four men of the area. The four men were booked for brutally beating a 37-year-old man and torturing him. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Moonak’s deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Buta Singh informed that Jagmail Singh of Changaliwala village near Lehra was allegedly picked up by two men from a panch’s house on November 7.
The report further adds that the accused have been identified as Rinku, Amarjeet Singh, Lucky alias Goli and Beeta alias Binder. All the accused all residents of Changaliwala village and were booked on Wednesday. Police informed that they are probing the allegations but no arrest has been made so far. As soon as the incident was reported, Police conducted a probe into the matter. It was found that Jagmail had a dispute with Rinku on September 21 but they had reached a compromise. The report states that Rinku and Binder picked him from the residence of panch Gurdial Singh and brought him to Rinku’s house. Jagmail was then tied to a pillar where he was allegedly beaten up by four people. Describing his ordeal, the victim said the accused thrashed him with sticks and rods. “When I asked for water, they forcibly made me drink urine,” the victim said. The report adds that a case has been registered against the accused for abduction, wrongful confinement, attempt to commit culpable homicide, voluntarily causing hurt and other charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at Lehra police station.
