Chandigarh, May 31: The Intelligence Wing of Punjab Police on Thursday arrested two members of an allegedly ISI backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module. The arrested men were identified as Jagdev Singh and Ravinderpal Singh. Both Jagdev and Ravinderpal were allegedly arranging funds and weapons for the sleeper cells of the banned group on the directives of Kulwinderjit Singh alias Khanpuriya, who is currently in Malaysia. The State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar had received a specific input that Kulwinderjit Singh, along with his associates, had planned to target leaders of a specific community to spread terror and disturb communal harmony in the State. A case has been registered under arms act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act registered against Kulwinderjit, Ravinderpal and Jagdev, at Police Station State Special Operations Cell, Amritsar. Kulwinderjit had shifted to Malaysia in January 2019, along with his family.
Meanwhile, earlier this March, the SSOC arrested five "highly radicalised and motivated youth" who were allegedly planning to kill specific targets including Hindu leaders and members of Dera Sacha Sauda. Special Cell had arrested Harvinder Singh, Sultan Singh, Karamjeet Singh, Lovepreet Singh, and Gurpreet Singh. A pistol of .32 bore along with magazine and four live rounds, and 15 letter pads of Babbar Khalsa International were recovered from them.
