Chandigarh, September 18: In a shocking incident, a man in Punjab was caught after he tried to kidnap a 4-year-old child from Ludhiana’s Rishi Nagar area on Tuesday. According to a CCTV footage released by ANI, the man is seen trying to steal the child when she was asleep with her mother outside their home. Police informed that the accused has been arrested. The video shows that the man picked up the baby who was sleeping with her mother and grandmother. The man is seeing taking the baby in the cart which he is carrying along. However, after the family members of the child wake up, they manage to catch him.

Several child-lifting incidences have been reported from parts of the nation. On September 7, three women were arrested in separate child lifting cases in Delhi for allegedly kidnapping children. In the first incident, a 24-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday for allegedly kidnapping a toddler from east Delhi's Pandav Nagar area. In the second incident, two women were arrested on suspicion of being child lifter from Sanjay Camp area.
In a similar incident, a 50-year-old man was lynched in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand earlier this month by locals who accused him of child lifting. The man, identified as Pratham Kumar, was roaming around in Kati Pahari village when a mob caught him and thrashed him brutally. The villagers alleged that Kumar had admitted to being a child lifter. The victim was admitted to a hospital where he died during treatment.
