Amritsar, November 25: Punjab Chief Minister Captian Amarinder Singh on Sunday has declined Pakistan Foreign Minister’s invitation to attend the foundation stone laying for Kartarpur Corridor, citing to the continued terrorist attacks in Punjab and killings of Indian soldiers by Pakistan armed forces. Navjot Singh Sidhu Accepts Pakistan's Invitation to Attend Opening Ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor, Writes to MEA for Permission.

The Captian Amarinder Singh said his reasons for declining the invitation were twofold. Firstly, Not a day passes when Indian soldiers are not killed or wounded in Jammu and Kashmir. And secondly, he accused Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence of starting nefarious activities and creating trouble in Punjab. Sushma Swaraj Won't Attend Kartarpur Corridor Opening in Pakistan, Nominates Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri.

"I hope the Prime Minister (Imran Khan) will understand that under these circumstances it will not be possible for me to be present in Pakistan on this historic occasion, despite the fact that paying my respects at Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib has always been my cherished dream which will hopefully be fulfilled once these hostilities and killings are stopped," Captain Amarinder said.

On Saturday, Pakistan Government has invited Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Navjot Singh Sidhu to attend the inauguration ceremony of Kartarpur corridor. However, Sushma Swaraj and Capt Amarinder Singh declined the invitation. While, Navjot Singh Sidhu accepted Pakistan's Invitation to attend the event and said he is waiting for a permission from the Ministry of external affairs.
