Chandigarh, September 4: At least 19 people were killed and more than 25 injured in a blast at an unauthorized firecracker manufacturing unit in a densely-populated residential area in Punjab's Gurdaspur district on Wednesday, an official said. Rescue workers were on the job to retrieve the bodies from the badly-damaged building in Batala town of the district, an official told IANS over phone. Gurdaspur MP Sunny Deol too expressed grief over the blast. "Saddened to hear about the news of blast in Batala factory. NDRF teams and local administration has been rushed for rescue operation," Deol tweeted.
