Pune, August 22: A woman, suspected to be mentally ill, rammed her car into parked vehicles in the wee hours of the day. The incident was reported in Pune's Ramnagar area on Tuesday, when the woman created a ruckus at 4:30am in the morning. Visuals of the incident were caught on CCTV footage and aired by media outlets.
Reports could not ascertain whether the woman acted under the influence of alcohol. According to eyewitnesses, she was visibly acting under rage. The police, based on the preliminary probe, has registered a case against the woman under relevant provisions of the law. Identifying the accused as Swati Mishra, an official privy to the matter said she first rammed into a parked Nano car, and then threatened to mow down anyone who attempted to stop her.
As per footage of the incident being shared on social media, the woman not only went on an abuse spree, but also threatened to disrobe herself if anybody attempted to confront her.

"The woman, Swati S. Mishra, is reportedly mentally ill. She had gone berserk and even threatened to attack the police and the bystanders. We have registered a case under the relevant sections," Yeshwant Gawari, Senior Police Inspector of Hinjewadi, told news agency IANS.
The accused is said to be in her mid-30s, and is a mother of a 9-year-old son. The ruckus created by her at the housing society was finally controlled after her family members arrived at the spot and took her away, Gawari said.
