Pune, January 28: In a shocking incident, a ward boy of Pune’s Jehangir Hospital was arrested for shooting a video of a female patient while she was changing clothes for an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan. According to reports, the incident surfaced on Saturday when the woman found the camera phone lying in the room where she was changing clothes the hospital. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the hospital’s official statement stated that the ward boy violated the rule of carrying mobile inside the MRI area and the minute the patient raised the concern, the ward boy was held and handed over to the police. The accused had been working at the hospital for the past year. Patient Raped Inside Hyderabad Hospital, Two Arrested.
As soon as the incident was reported by the victim’s husband, police seized the mobile phone and the clip was deleted immediately which avoided its circulation. Police inspector (crime) Ganesh Mane of Koregaon Park police station informed that as of now, a case under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused and further sections will be imposed on the basis of the probe.
The hospital was quoted in the HT report saying that the ward boy is not on the payroll of Jehangir Hospital but has been outsourced by some other agency. “We will be taking stern action against the agency concerned, terminate the contract and advise other hospitals as a precaution against such acts by employees”, the hospital statement was quoted by HT. The ward boy has been identified as Lakesh Lahu Uttekar, 25, a resident of Dhanori and a native of Ratnagiri.
According to reports, the incident took place on Saturday when the woman came to the hospital with her husband after pain in the stomach. According to the officials at the Koregaon Park police station, the couple consulted the doctor and the woman was directed to get an MRI scan. Despite having a designated changing room for MRI patients, the ward boy asked the woman to change in another room. The report states that once the MRI scan was done, the woman was taken to yet another room for changing where she found the mobile phone.
