Pune, June 29: A total of 15 people hailing from Bihar were killed after a compound wall of a building collapsed in Kondhwa area of Pune on Saturday. In the wake of the tragic incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered the Pune Collector to conduct a detailed probe into the incident. Dramatic videos and images on social media showed cars lined up next to the wall that collapsed during the wee hours on Saturday. Fadnavis announced a compensation of Rs 5 Lakh each to the next of the kin of the deceased.
Maharashtra Minister Chandrakant Patil informed that all the deceased were from Bihar. Patil said the NDRF will give compensation to families of deceased, Rs 4 lakh for each victim. The Minister added that the Collector will prepare preliminary investigation report by evening. Also, a committee has also been formed to investigate the matter.

The incident occurred around 2.15 a.m on Saturday when the compound wall of Alcon Stylus Building suddenly came crashing down. The victims, who were asleep in their huts, were buried in the debris, police and NDRF officials said.
The Mayor of Pune, Mukta Tilak said a an investigation will be conducted into the incident. "We are giving a 'work stop' order so that no work can be continued at the construction site here", she said. Meanwhile, the District Collector Pune,Naval Kishore Ram said the wall collapsed due to heavy rainfall. "Negligence of the construction company is coming to light with this incident.Death of 15 people is not a small matter.Mostly were labourers from Bihar & Bengal. Govt to provide help to the affected", he added.
