Pune, July 18: In a move to make people follow traffic rules, the Pune traffic department has come up with an extraordinary idea. The cops have tied up with food delivery aggregators like Zomato and Swiggy to provide Punekars up to 50 per cent discounts on orders, reported Pune Mirror. Under this initiative, commuters had been receiving a 10-digit coupon code on their mobile number when traffic police stopped them and checked their records- if found clean they have gifted a coupon which leads to various discounts. Till now, the scheme is successful with at least 10,000 coupons already distributed, reported Pune Mirror.
Not only this, but the traffic department has also tied up with over 150 stores across Pune, benefiting commuters in clothing, electronic, malls and eateries. Out of 10,000 coupons distributed, over 3,200 have been used, the report said. Police officials said that no part of the initiative is being funded by them, as money collected through fines and other things goes to the treasury. The discounts are being offered by store owners.
