Pune, July 25: In a yet another case of sexual assault, a two-and-a-half-year old girl was found murdered near her residence in Pimple Saudagar area of Maharashtra's Pune. The investigations revealed that the minor, a daughter of construction worker was sexually assaulted before being murdered, police said. According to the Times of India, the girl's mother on Tuesday morning noticed that she was missing from the home. Later her parents approached the cops. On July 23 evening, the girl's body was found in a trench located on an open plot. Meanwhile, police have started a probe and questioned as many as 30 construction workers in the area, reported the Times of India. If required, medical tests would be done to catch the culprit. Maharashtra Commission for Women President Vidya Rahatkar met the victim's parents and assured that accused will be arrested.

Earlier in May, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by two men in Pune's Kondhwa area. The victim was dating one of the accused Krushna Jadhav. The other accused was Akshay Chavan. In her complaint, the woman told police that when she was alone in her house, Chavan came and told that Jadhav was not well. They both met Jadhav at Kalepadal and headed to a hilltop in Pisoli. Where Jadhav raped her and Chavan physically assaulted her. She later filed a complaint and both the accused were arrested.
