Pune, October 16: In a shocking incident that took place in Maharashtra, a 42-year-old man and his friend were allegedly assaulted by seven people in Pune. The alleged incident took place on the night of Saturday, October 14, when the software professional requested staffers of a resto-bar in Sutarwadi not to allow children in the smoking zone. The incident came to light after the victim lodged a complaint against the seven accused.
According to a report in the Times of India, the techie in his complaint said that his friend sustained head injuries after one of the suspects threw a glass towards him. The incident occurred when the complainant and his wife, along with some friends, were dining at the resto-bar in Pune's Sutarwadi. A police officer said the fight started after the victim asked the staff not to allow children near the smoking zone. "Around 9.45pm, when he went into the smoking zone of the bar, he noticed a few children playing in the area. He requested a staffer to inform the parents of the children to take them out," an officer from Hinjewadi police said. Following this, one person came and started abusing the techie for not allowing the children near the smoking zone.
"He also threatened the techie with dire consequences," the officer added. Later, the duo came with five more more and started abusing the complainant. They beat the accused and even went on to push his wife. Acting on the techie's complaint, the Hinjewadi police, on Sunday, October 16, booked seven men, including four cousins, on charges of assault. All seven suspects have been booked under sections 337 (endangering life or personal safety of others), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 142, 143, 146, and 149 (rioting) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
