Pune, September 5: In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old man has been arrested following a brutal attack on a 60-year-old woman and domestic help in Ganesh Peth. The incident occurred on September 2 when the accused, a cook by profession, forcefully entered the victim's home and subjected her to severe violence. He bit her on multiple parts of her body, attempted to strangle her, and used a pillow to smother her. The attack was interrupted when the victim managed to raise an alarm, leading to the cook’s arrest by the Faraskhana police.

As per the Times of India report, the accused, identified as Vikram Vishwakarma, forcibly entered the victim Champa Kudale's residence on Monday night when she was alone at home and subjected to violent assault. As per the report, the accused bit her on various parts of her body, including her shoulder, back, and leg, in a horrifying display of aggression. The assault was interrupted when the victim managed to scream for help, prompting neighbours to intervene and alert the authorities. The motive behind this attempted murder appears to be theft, as the two individuals were unknown to each other, and no personal vendetta has been established. Senior Inspector Prashant Bhasme revealed that the police are awaiting blood test results to determine if Vishwakarma was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime. The investigation is ongoing, with Vishwakarma in custody, facing serious charges under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
