Pune, August 4: A 32-year-old man recently approached the police and lodged a complaint against a man for allegedly beating his mother and biting off her finger in Pune. The alleged incident occurred at around 4 PM on Thursday, August 1. The complainant claimed that the man identified as Manjeet Thakur and two others attacked his mother and wife after a fight erupted over his pet dog.
According to a report in the Indian Express, the complainant suspected that Thakur's dog who had an eye infection, passed the same to his son. The complainant, Dattatraya Kshirsagar, later complained about the same to Thakur. He met Thakur and asked him to not lose the dog as his elder son had got an eye infection and he did not want his four month old infant son to get the same. This request led to an argument between Thakur and Kshirsagar. Later in the day, Thakur and two other members of his family visited Kshirsagar’s house across and allegedly beat his mother and wife. Police officials said Thakur assaulted Kshirsagar’s mother Latabai with a stick and also went on to bite her index finger, thereby severing it.
Acting on Kshirsagar's complaint, the police booked Thakur under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Meanwhile, the police have launched a probe in connection with the matter. Besides Thakur, the police received complaint agaist the two women - Sangita Singh and Puja Singh, who allegedly assaulted Kshirsagar’s wife. Cops also said that the two families live in bungalows opposite each other in Praniti Park. In a separate incident, a 22-year-old man from Nepal died of burn injuries which he suffered in an explosion at a manufacturing firm in Maval taluka of Pune district.
