Mumbai, May 24: Amid outrage over Pune Porsche car accident, another heart-wrenching incident took place early on Thursday morning as a 15-year-old boy on a bike collided with another motorcyclist, resulting in the latter's fatal injury. The accident occurred on Nesbit Bridge in the Mazgaon area of Byculla, Mumbai. The cops detained the minor on the spot and sent him to juvenile home while his elderly father was arrested later in the day for allowing him to ride his bike.
TOI reported that the 15-year-old boy, who was reportedly on his way to get breakfast, was riding in the opposite direction when he crashed into 32-year-old Irfan Nawab Ali Shaikh. Mr. Shaikh, a local garment businessman, was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Police officials have confirmed that the minor was detained immediately after the accident, and his father was arrested for allowing his underage son to operate the motorcycle. A case has been registered against the minor for rash and negligent driving under the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act. "It was the negligence of the father that led to this tragic event. He should have ensured that his minor son was not riding the bike," stated an investigating officer.
The father, who is engaged in the shoe-making business, is now facing charges for his oversight. The minor has been sent to a remand home following the incident.
This tragedy comes just days after a fatal accident in Pune involving a Porsche car that left two dead, highlighting the increasing need for stringent enforcement of road safety regulations.
