Pune: Morarji Mills Scion Arrested by Koregaon Police for Keeping Iranian Woman Hostage

Koregaon Police on Monday booked Dhanraj Morarji, son of textile tycoon Arvind Morarji and half-brother of politician Nagma, for allegedly harassing an Irani national.

Pune, December 25: Koregaon Police on Monday booked Dhanraj Morarji, son of textile tycoon Arvind Morarji and half-brother of politician Nagma, for allegedly harassing an Irani national and keeping her in strict captivity. The survivor, Parvin Ghelichi, told police that Dhanraj kept her confined in his apartment in the posh locale of Koregaon Park and would assault and beat her up on minor issues. According to the reports, Ghelichi came to India for pursuing a course in Computer Technology. She met Dhanraj through a common friend in the first week of November. Ghelichi told police that initially, he was a nice guy, who kept showering his love and affection to her. But thereafter, the thing went downhill, Dhanraj began to beat her even for minor issues. Later, things became worse as “He would assault me for no rhyme or reason at least a couple of times a week" she said, reported Mumbai Mirror.

After the repeated assaults, Ghelichi managed to text a friend on Instagram. Her friend got in touch with Mirror, who later informed police and got her rescued from the upscale MIT Olympus Society.

Police have also managed to recover Ghelichi's passport and other documents. Dhanraj has been booked under the Indian Penal Code Sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
