Pune Man Arrested For Stalking And Abusing Woman Traffic Police Official In Mundhwa, Case Filed
A 32-year-old man was accused of stalking and verbal abuse of a female traffic police official in Pune’s Mundhwa area on Monday.
Pune, August 22: A 32-year-old man was accused of stalking and verbal abuse of a female traffic police official in Pune’s Mundhwa area on Monday. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, the man was identified as Ravi Ashok Sartape, who was riding a vehicle along the Mahatma Phule Chowk, when the complainant traffic official stopped him for violating traffic rule.
The traffic official from Hadapsar traffic division was deployed in the area to control traffic in the area. According to the report, she stopped the Sartape for violating traffic rules, after which he allegedly abused her verbally and threatened her. Sartape is an unemployed man pursuing a correspondence course in bachelor of business administration and also worked in a garment showroom in the past but was fired due to his behaviour.
Assistant police inspector Pandit Rejitwad of Mundhwa police station, who is investigating the case told Hindustan Times, “He has a history of cases that include 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and one house break-in as well. He was driving from the wrong side, and the officer simply asked him to stop at another point as he was blocking the way. He told her to move instead.” According to the report, Sartape pulled the official’s hand and abused her after which her senior asked her to install jammers on the tyre of his vehicle.
He was arrested in the case and remanded in magisterial custody. His case will be sent to a sessions court for further proceedings. Meanwhile, he has been sent to the Yerwada Central Jail. A case has been registered at Mundhwa police station under Sections 354(a) (sexual harassment), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of her/his duty), 506 (criminal intimidation), 504 (insult with an intent of provoking breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
