Pune Floods: Death Toll Rises to 18, Seven Missing After Incessant Rains
The death toll has risen to 18 due to floods in Pune after four bodies were recovered on Friday. According to reports, seven people are still missing. Heavy rains lashed Pune on Wednesday after which various incidents of and water-logging were reported from the district.

The city witnessed heavy rainfalls on the first three nights of the week. According to a report published in The Times of India, Pune city received 53.1mm of rain in 12 hours on Wednesday. Meanwhile, due to heavy rains, schools and colleges remained shut on Friday for the second consecutive day.
As per ANI, Naval Kishore Ram, Pune District Collector declared holiday for schools and colleges in Pune city, Purandar, Baramati, Bhor and Haveli tehsil in view of heavy rains in the region. Around 2,000 vehicles on the roads and parking lots were found submerged in the waterlogged areas of south Pune.
The Three teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed for flood rescue operations in Pune. The Indian Army also undertook rescue operations in Pune during the intervening night of September 25 and 26, 2019. Five Teams from units stationed at Pune rescued more than 300 people stranded due to incessant rains.

Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall is likely to lash parts of Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar over the next 24 hours. In its weather bulletin, the IMD informed that the cyclonic circulation lies over north Maharashtra-south Gujarat coasts and adjoining areas. Under its influence, heavy to very heavy falls likely over Bihar during the next three days with extremely heavy falls likely on September 29.
