Mumbai, September 1: A 35-year-old sweetshop employee has been arrested by the Pune Police on charges of sexual harassment following a complaint from a minor girl in Pimpri Chinchwad. The girl reported that the man had been blowing kisses at her and making objectionable gestures as she travelled to school by bus over the past three months.

The police issued a press release on Saturday detailing the incident. According to the statement, the girl, who commutes to school by bus, had been subjected to harassment by the accused whenever the bus passed in front of the sweet shop where he worked. Girl Shares Her Ordeal During 'Good Touch, Bad Touch' Session

The matter came to light during an awareness session on ‘good touch and bad touch’ conducted by a woman police officer at the girl’s school. During the session, the victim recounted her ordeal, prompting the police to launch an investigation. The police have arrested the man under Sections 78 (stalking) and 79 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as well as relevant sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The investigation is ongoing.
