Pune, October 3: In a tragic incident, a four-year-old girl died after she was run over by a police van in Shivane area of Pune on Wednesday afternoon. According to an Indian Express report, the deceased identified as Divya Chavan hid under the vehicle as she was playing with her friends. The van belonged to Uttam Nagar Police and the constable had parked the van outside their house.
The driver failed to notice the girl who was hiding under the parked vehicle. The constable and Divya’s family members rushed her to a hospital, where she succumbed to injuries during treatment. The van driver will be booked on charges of causing death due to negligence. An FIR in this matter was registered. Last month, in another accident, more than least six people died and several were injured after a bus rammed into a stationary truck on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway. The SRS bus, which was on its way to Bengaluru in Karnataka from Pune in Maharashtra, collided with a lorry which was parked near a petrol pump after a tyre burst.
