Mumbai, Sep 4: In a shocking case of food poisoning, at least 34 girls of an orphanage home in Maharashtra's Pune were admitted to a hospital for on Monday. According to a tweet by ANI, the incident took place in Pune's Talegaon Dabhade village. Reports inform that around 23 girls were discharged immediately after treatment while 11 girls are still under observation.
A similar incident was reported from Pune in the last month where nearly 100 students of MIT-ADT University in Loni Kalbhor complained of diarrhoea, vomiting and stomachache. According to a report by Pune Mirror, the students complained about the symptoms of food poisoning after they consumed meals served in the institute’s mess.

In July this year, 58 inmates of the women's jail in Byculla were admitted to JJ Hospital in Mumbai due to suspected food poisoning. A majority of the women complained of severe abdominal pain, vomiting and dehydration and were rushed to the government-run hospital.
In June this year, three minors lost their lives while nearly 80 people were hospitalised after a suspected food poisoning during a ''vastu shanti'' ceremony in a village in Maharashtra. According to a report by The Hindu, the incident took place in Mhahad village near Khopoli city when around 500 villagers were invited for dinner at a local temple.
