Pulwama Attack Backlash: Madhya Pradesh Farmers Refuse to Export ‘Petlawad Tomatoes’ to Pakistan, Kamal Nath Lauds 'Patriotism'

Thousands of tomato farmers from Petlawad tehsil in Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district have decided to not export their grown tomatoes to Pakistan in protest against the Pulwama terrorist attack.

Bhopal, February 20: Thousands of tomato farmers from Petlawad tehsil in Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district have decided to not export their grown tomatoes to Pakistan in protest against the Pulwama terrorist attack. Currently, in the region, there are around 5,000 farmers who are engaged in cultivating tomatoes. Petlawad tomatoes have high demand because of their tanginess and size. Speaking to ANI, Ravindra Patidar, a farmer said, "We are farmers and we grow tomatoes. We also export tomatoes to Pakistan. And by eating our food, they are killing our soldiers. We now want Pakistan to get destroyed. We will also not let any other country sent tomatoes to Pakistan."

"We are no more concerned about the prices of tomato getting exported. If there will be no soldiers, how will survive. All the surplus money coming from export will go in vain," said another tomato cultivator Basanti Lal Patidar.

This action from farmers was lauded by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath. "I salute the decision taken by the brothers of Jhabua District of not selling the tomatoes to Pakistan. I admire their patriotism, every citizen should take inspiration from their spirit," he tweeted.
