Chandigarh, February 23: Amidst increasing incidents of violence against Kashmiris post-Pulwama attack, the Punjab Police set up a special desk for immediate redressal of complaints of the people from Kashmir facing any inconvenience in the state. The move came days after Punjab CM assured proper security of the Kashmiri students in the state. Complainants can call on a toll-free number 181 in case of any emergency. After receiving the call, the Punjab Police will ensure prompt and effective action against the culprits. Amarinder Singh to Imran Khan on Pulwama Attack: Nab JeM Chief Masood Azhar or We Will Do It For You.

Capt Singh today tweeted to give this information. The Punjab CM said, “Kashmiris in Punjab can now call 181 for immediate response & action to any complaints of harassment. @PunjabPoliceInd has set up a special desk to provide them immediate help. I won’t let anyone trouble them as they are as much a part of India as Kashmir is.”

Captain Amarinder Singh's tweet:

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke silence on the attacks on Kashmiri students after the Pulwama attack. Addressing a gathering in Tonk district in Rajasthan on Saturday, PM said, "Our fight is against terrorism and the enemies of humanity. Our fight is for Kashmir and not against the people of Kashmir."

Meanwhile, National Conference leader and former CM of Jammu and Kashmir welcomed the PM’s statement on the issue. He tweeted, “Thank you @narendramodi Sahib. Aaj aap ne hamaray dil ki baat keh di (You Conveyed Feeling of Our Heart). It’s been more than a week since the terrible attack in Pulwama & more than a week that Kashmiris have been bearing the brunt of the public anger. Perhaps finally after PM @narendramodi Sb has spoken these forces targeting Kashmiris will stop in their tracks.”

The attacks on Kashmiri students are rising like a fire after the suicide attack in Pulwama on February 14 on Central Police Reserve Force’s (CRPF) convoy. Over 40 CRPF jawans were martyred in the attack by Pakistan based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed.
