Guwahati, February 21: A 22-year-old man was sent to 14-day judicial custody by Assam’s local court for his pro-Pakistan comments. The man identified as Diloar Hussain, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of sedition by Assam Police for allegedly writing ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in a comment on Facebook, reported Hindustan Times. According to the report, Dipankar Deka, the general secretary of the Rangia unit of the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal approached police on Tuesday and filed complained against Hussain. The 22-year-old man allegedly wrote ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ comment on a Facebook post condemning the Pulwama incident. The case was registered against Hussain under section 124(A) of the Indian Penal Code.

It is the second incident in Assam this week where people were booked under sedition charges for pro-Pakistan comments on posts related to the suicide bomb attack on a CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama District. Over 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldiers were martyred in the suicide attack. Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the attack. Meanwhile, on Monday, three youths were arrested by Assam Police and charged with sedition for posting pro-Pakistan comments in Ledo town of Tinsukia district on Facebook.

After the Pulwama attack, the Western Railways on February 15, suspended Junior Ticket Collector, Kumar Upendra Bahadur Singh, for allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans during an event to pay tribute to CRPF jawans who lost their lives in Pulwama attack. Pune police lodged arrested the junior ticket collector under IPC section 153(B) for promoting disharmony.
