Bhiwandi, June 29: Enraged over scolding for playing PUBG or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds game, a minor boy killed his elder brother. The incident took place Bhiwandi in Thane district of Maharashtra on Saturday. The victim was identified as 19-year-old Mohammad Shaikh. He had reprimanded his younger brother for playing PUBG game for hours.

According to senior police inspector Mamata D'Souza, the accused was furious when Shaikh asked him to stop playing PUBG game on his mobile phone. He allegedly banged Mohammad Shaikh's head against a wall and stabbed him repeatedly with scissors, the officer said, as reported by PTI. PUBG Ban: Fatwa Issued Against PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Online Game in Indonesia.

Shaikh was taken to a government hospital where he was declared brought dead. The minor accused has been booked under section 302 (Punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), said Mamata D'Souza. Several such incidents have been reported in various parts of the country when youngsters killed themselves or others in a rage after being stopped from playing PUBG. PUBG Lite Online Game Might Come To India By The End Of This Month.

In May, a 16-year-old boy died of a cardiac arrest allegedly after he played PUBG for six hours continuously. The victim was from Jharkhand's Neemuch. The game is developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole. The game has been downloaded more than 360 million times around the world since its release in late 2017.

The Gujarat government recently banned the game in the state following concerns about its impact on the "behaviour, conduct and language" of players.
