Mirzaour, July 20: After meeting families of the victims of Sonbhadra firing on Saturday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra ended her Dharna. She met the relatives of the victims at the Chunar guest house in Mirzapur where she was detained by the Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday. Speaking to reporters outside the guest house, she said, “I will be back.” She further added that her objective had been served.

"I am now leaving because my purpose of meeting the families of the victims has been fulfilled. But I will return very soon. I had come here on the instructions of my brother Rahul Gandhi," reported IANS quoting Gandhi as saying. The Congress General Secretary also tweeted the video of her meeting. Along with the video, she wrote, “Finally met the families of the Ubbha massacre. What they have been through is unimaginably brutal and unjust. Every single Indian should stand with them in the name of humanity.”

After meeting the relatives of the victims, Gandhi became emotional. On Wednesday, 10 people, from the Gond tribe, were killed and two dozen injured in a caste clash over a land dispute in Murtiya village in Sonebhadra. The Congress General Secretary as on her way to Sonbhadra to meet the victims' families when she was detained at Narayanpur in Mirzapur. She was taken to the Charu guest house where she spent last night. Earlier on Friday morning, she had also visited the Trauma Centre at BHU to meet the injured.
