Priyanka Bishnoi Death: Rajasthan Administrative Officer Dies After ‘Botched’ Surgery in Jodhpur, Probe Ordered

An inquiry has been launched into the death of Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer Priyanka Bishnoi, who passed away late Wednesday while undergoing treatment in Ahmedabad. Bishnoi, 33, a 2016 batch officer from Bikaner, had undergone surgery at a private hospital in Jodhpur two weeks prior.

Bikaner, September 19: An inquiry has been launched into the death of Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer Priyanka Bishnoi, who passed away late Wednesday while undergoing treatment in Ahmedabad. Bishnoi, 33, a 2016 batch officer from Bikaner, had undergone surgery at a private hospital in Jodhpur two weeks prior. Following the operation, her condition worsened, and her relatives alleged medical negligence during the procedure.

According to a report in Indian Express, Bishnoi’s family claims that excessive anesthesia or severe blood loss during surgery may have contributed to her deteriorating health. In response, Jodhpur District Collector Gaurav Agrawal ordered an investigation led by a five-member expert team from Sampurnanand Medical College (SNMC). The team, headed by SNMC Principal Bharti Saraswat, consists of specialists in gynecology, medicine, surgery, neurology, and anesthesia. Agrawal assured that if negligence is confirmed, immediate action will be taken against the private hospital responsible. “The matter will become clear after the expert committee's report. Bishnoi was serving as Assistant Collector in Jodhpur and had recently been transferred as Deputy Commissioner with the Jodhpur North Municipal Corporation, though she had not yet assumed her new post.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed his condolences on X, stating, “The demise of RAS officer Priyanka Bishnoi ji is extremely sad. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give peace to her soul and strength to her family during this difficult time.” Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also conveyed his grief over Bishnoi’s untimely death.
