New Delhi, September 16: Prince Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy, who claims to be a descendant of Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar extended his support for constructing the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. While speaking to news Agency, ANI, in New Delhi, Yakub said, ‘We have no objection...If a temple is built there we will be the ones to lay the foundation stone.”

Yakub also lashed out at All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and All India Majlis-E-Muslimeen Chief, Assadudin Owaisi in the interview. He called Owaisi a joker. He added that AIMPLB had no right to speak in the matter. He said that it was a title lawsuit and Hyderabad city civil court had accepted him as a descendant of Bahadur Shah Zafar in 2002, so all Muslims should follow the law. He claimed that Mughals never disrespected any religion.

In 2017 also, The Prince had staked claim to the Babri Masjid. Yakub had also sent an application to the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Wakf Board, seeking mutawwali (caretaker-ship) of the site. Yakub earlier also claimed to have the court decree which declares him and his family the heirs of Bahadur Shah Zafar.
