New Delhi, January 1: Union Minister Prakash Javadekar has blamed Congress and AAP for spreading misinformation on Citizenship Amendment Act and ruining the atmosphere in Delhi. According to an ANI update, he said, "In a peaceful city like Delhi, the atmosphere that was created by spreading misinformation on CAA, and the damage that was done to property, Congress and AAP are responsible for it. They must apologise to the people."
On New Year eve, the youth had skipped parties and the elderly shun the comfort of watching TV at home as thousands of people protesting against the CAA welcomed the year 2020 by singing the national anthem at Delhi's Shaheen Bagh. On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter using the hashtag #IndiaSupportsCAA and asked people not to believe in any rumours. PM further urged people to check the hashtag and search on NaMo App for any content, graphics, videos and other relevant information about Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
BJP has formed the 'Jan Jagran Abhiyan' committee to dispel rumours about CAA. The party further wants to send across the message that CAA was introduced in the country keeping in mind the national interest.
