Bengaluru, April 30: The boiling issue over the alleged sex scandal that has rocked Karnataka politics has taken on a new dimension thanks to a letter sent by a BJP leader regarding the charges made against Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. Before his name was revealed as the NDA contender for the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, BJP leader Devaraje Gowda had alerted the state leadership about accusations made against JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda. For the unversed, several obscene videos purportedly featuring Prajwal Revanna recently circulated on social media.

In his letter to state party chief B Y Vijayendra, BJP leader Devaraje Gowda wrote, "If we align with the JD(S) and if we nominate a JD(S) candidate in Hassan for the Lok Sabha elections, these videos can be used as a brahmastra (weapon), and we will be tainted as a party that aligned with the family of a rapist. Gowda further advised Vijayendra to inform the national leaders about the dispute and persuade them against aligning with the HD Revanna family in Hassan district. This latest development occurs as Revanna landed in the soup that arose only two days before the voting took place at several constituencies for Karnataka Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in the first phase of polling for General Polls. In the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, which went to polls on April 26, the 33-year-old JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna is the NDA's candidate seeking a second term.
