Mumbai, September 9: Maharashtra Home Department on Monday accepted the resignation of Senior Police Inspector Pradeep Sharma from the Police force. Sharma, who has over 100 encounters to his name and involved in as many has 312 encounters, resigned from the Maharashtra Police in June. According to reports, Pradeep Sharma is likely to contest upcoming 2019 Maharashtra Assembly Elections. Encounter Specialist Pradeep Sharma Resigns.

According to reports, the "encounter specialist" is likely to contest state polls on a Shiv Sena ticket. There are speculations that he will contest from Andheri or Nallasopara constituency. Sharma, who was posted in Thane Crime Branch, was to retire in May 2020.

The super cop was reinstated into the service after a few years of suspension. He was suspended because of his alleged involvement in the fake encounter of gangster Ramnarayan Gupta alias Lakhanbhaiya.

Sharma, along with 13 other policemen, were arrested and suspended in 2008. The encounter specialist was acquitted of all charges by the Mumbai Court in 2014 and was reappointed in 2017.
