Mumbai, September 2: The Mumbai police recently arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend's 21-year-old brother in the city. The alleged incident occurred on Friday night, August 30, on a busy road in Powai. Police officials said that the accused stabbed his girlfriend's brother after the latter refused to give him money for alcohol. The accused, who was arrested after the incident, was identified as Nazeem Khan.

According to a report in HT, the incident took place on Friday at around 10 PM when the victim, Rishu, was standing outside the Diamond Chinese Corner in Powai along with his two friends. Cops said that accused Nazeem approached Rishu and demanded money for alcohol. Khan stabbed the victim multiple times in his stomach, chest, shoulders and hands. Rishu’s cousin, Suraj Shrivastav, who filed a complaint against Khan, heard the screams as he was at his office. Suraj saw Rishu lying wounded as Khan held a knife and threatened passersby for helping the victim. However, soon after Nazeem and his accomplice fled, Suraj rushed Rishu to a hospital in Jogeshwari.

Suraj also told cops that earlier in the month, Suraj had a disagreement with Nazeem over his relationship with his sister. It was learned that Nazeem and Suraj's sister were in a relationship for three years. Post that fight, Nazeem was looking for a reason to kill Rishu, Suraj alleged. Cops also learned that the accused and his accomplice threatened passersby to kill them if they intervened. After the incident, the police arrested Khan and his accomplice, Mainuddin Khan. Both of them have been booked under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahinta.
