Post Pulwama: Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Along LoC in Jammu & Kashmir's Rajouri For 2nd Consecutive Day

This comes close on the heels of a terror attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama district on February 14 in which as many as 40 jawans were killed, and many others were injured.

Srinagar, February 20: Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the terror strike in Pulwama, a fresh ceasefire violation was reported in Jammu & Kashmir's Rajouri district on Wednesday. The unprovoked cross-border firing by the Pakistani Army comes on the second consecutive day in a row.

According to preliminary reports, the ceasefire violation occurred in Kalal area of Nowshera sector in Rajouri. The firing started at around 9:50am, with Pakistan resorting to the use of heavy mortar shelling. The Indian side has launched a stiff retaliation. On Tuesday evening, a similar ceasefire violation was reported in the Rajouri sector, when the Pakistani forces resorted to unprovoked firing at around 7pm along the LoC in Nowshera sector. The Indian Army had launched a strong and effective retaliation.

On Saturday, an army officer was killed and another injured in a powerful IED blast near the Line of Control in Nowshera sector.

Only recently, India had summoned Pakistan High Commission official and had lodged a strong protest at the unprovoked firings along the LoC in the Valley.
