Chennai, March 26: The Crime Branch- CID of Tamil Nadu Police summoned 27- year-old Thendral Manimaran in connection with the Pollachi sexual abuse case. Manimaran is the son of DMK district secretary (Coimbatore rural) Thendral Selvaraj. He was summoned to ask him about his proximity with the prime suspect in the case, Thirunavvukkarasu, reported India Today. Manimaran was asked to appear before the investigation officer in Coimbatore on March 28. According to the report, Crime Branch-CID also summoned 28-year-old A Nagaraj in connections with the case. He was expelled from the AIADMK after he was called for an inquiry in the case.
Earlier this month, the state Police busted a gang of sexual offenders for allegedly harassing about 50 female Facebook users in Tamil Nadu. The Police then arrested a four-member gang from Pollachi near Coimbatore in connection with the sexual assault. The Pollachi sexual abuse and extortion incident has caused a political uproar in Tamil Nadu. The arrest of four people for alleged sexual abuse of 50 women caused an uproar in the state. The accused were arrested under the Goonda Act following a complaint by a 19-year-old girl from Coimbatore district.
