Darbhanga, May 21: Police and security officials on Tuesday lathi-charged on members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Bihar. The cops charged batons on ABVP members who were staging a demonstration in support of the President of Students Union of Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU) in Darbhanga. Members of ABVP ran erratically when the police and security lathi-charged on them. In the clip shared by news agency ANI, cops can be seen thrashing demonstrating students in the campus making sure that the protestors were diffused. Students are constantly demonstrating these days against the Madhumala Kumari of ABVP, who became president of the student union in LNMU election, by defeating her nearest rival by 16 votes. Demonstrators say that President Madhumala wrongly took admission in PG Mathematics department and contested the student union elections.
A proctor in the Lalit Narayan Mithila University has admitted that instead of studying these days, the university has become a political arena. Different student organizations protesting every day alleging fraud in the election of the student union, he said.
