New Delhi, November 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday compared the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Ayodhya title dispute case and the opening of Kartarpur Corridor with the “fall of the Belin Wall”. He said that today's day is as historic as  "the fall of Berlin wall". PM Modi stated, “Today is November 9, the day when Berlin wall was brought down. Today the Kartarpur Corridor was also inaugurated. In his address to the nation, PM Modi termed the Ayodhya verdict as a historic judgment. He said that November 9 will be remembered as “landmark day” in India’s democracy. He added that there is no place for fear, bitterness and negativity in “'New India”. The Prime Minister stated that after the verdict the way every section of society, of every religion, has welcomed it, is a proof of India's ancient culture and tradition of social harmony.

PM Modi's Statement:

Earlier in the day, the top court’s five-judge Constitution Bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi delivered the verdict in the long-pending Ayodhya case. The five-judge Constitution Bench handed over the possession of the disputed site to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, giving it permission to build a temple at the contentious location. The court also directed the government to give the Sunni Central Waqf Board a five-acre alternative land in Ayodhya for building a mosque.

On Saturday, PM Modi also inaugurated the Indian side of the Kartarpur Corridor connecting Dera Baba Nanak in India with Kartarpur in Pakistan’s Narowal district where Guru Nanak Dev spent last 18 years of his life. Pakistani PM Imran Khan also inaugurated the other side of the corridor. The corridor allows visa-free entry to Indian pilgrims. Both the countries signed an agreement to finalise the formalities of the corridor on October 24.
