PM Narendra Modi to Launch Ayushman Bharat Scheme From Ranchi, with the budget of Rs 12,000 crores
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch one of the largest government-funded healthcare programme, The Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY) in Ranchi on Sunday.

The healthcare scheme will provide paperless and cashless access to services for the beneficiary at the point of service. It will help to reduce expenditure for hospitalisation during tragic incidents. Entitled families will be able to use the quality health services they need without facing financial hardships. When fully implemented, PMJAY will become the world's largest fully government-funded health protection scheme. It is a visionary step towards advancing the agenda of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The healthcare scheme aims to provide a coverage of Rs 5 lakhs to 10 crore economically weaker families. PM Narendra will also inaugurate 10 wellness centres in Jharkhand as a part of the scheme.
While confirming the launch PM Narendra Modi tweeted, "Today is a historic day for India! We are launching the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), which is a big step towards providing good quality and accessible healthcare to the poor of India. Over 10 crore families will benefit from this scheme."
He further tweeted, "I will be in Ranchi to mark the launch of PMJAY- Ayushman Bharat. During the programme, foundation stones for medical colleges in Chaibasa and Koderma will be laid. Health and wellness centres will also be inaugurated.
We are committed to building a healthy and fit India!"
This project is an attempt by the government of India towards Fit India. The eligibility is being decided by the basis of criteria in the SECC database. The grantees are identified based on the deprivation categories identified under the SECC database for rural areas.
