PM Narendra Modi Talks Tough on Terror at SCO Summit 2019, Says ‘Countries Supporting Terrorism Must Be Held Accountable’

Bishkek, June 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed a plenary session of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Speaking at the summit, PM Modi said, "Countries supporting, aiding and funding terrorism must be held accountable." The PM said, "To tackle the danger of terrorism, all humanitarian powers should come forward together," adding that, "India is committed to physical connectivity with SCO nations." Stressing the need to build ties with SCO Nation, PM said, "India has been a permanent SCO member for two years now, we’ve given a positive contribution in all activities of SCO. We’ve continued engagements to enhance SCO’s role and credibility on the international stage." The Prime Minister also informed the member nations that visa norms for the SCO nations have been relaxed adding that "India has initiated tourist helplines."

Emphasising peace as a "key concern", Modi asserted "We need better cooperation against terror, We must eliminate terror in the region." He said that the nations who back terrorism must be left isolated.

PM Modi also reiterated India's support for peace in Afghanistan and gave 'HEALTH' mantra to the nations. "H stands for Health and medicare cooperation, E for Eco cooperation, A for Alternate connectivity via waterways, L for literature promotion, T for terrorism free society, H for humanitarian cooperation," he said.
