New Delhi, June 6: Within a week after taking charge again as Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has approved the reconstitution of apex policy-making body NITI Aayog on Thursday. The latest development states that PM Modi would continue to be the Chairman of the NITI Aayog.
According to the latest development, as ANI states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi to chair NITI Aayog and Rajiv Kumar will continue to be the Vice Chairman. Apart from these two primary people, the other members include VK Saraswat, Ramesh Chand and Dr VK Paul. All these senior bureaucrats would be looking after the policies of the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and co. The recent announcement comes a day after PM Modi formed ordered the formation of two new Cabinet committees that will focus on employment and economic growth. These two committees too would be headed by the Premier. These committees were formed days after Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) came out in public and which showed that India’s unemployment rate at a 45-year high of 6.1 per cent in 2017-18. Earlier in the PLFS report, it was stated the unemployment rate for males was higher at 7.1 per cent in urban areas compared to 5.8 per cent in rural areas. For women, it was 10.8 per cent in urban areas compared to 3.8 per cent in rural areas.
