The video of the BJP leader went viral on social media in which she was expressing her anger over the delay in train by several hours. Chawla said that the Prime Minister should forget about starting bullet train, instead the government should first focus on running the existing trains on times. The Former Punjab minister was travelling to Ayodhya in AC-III tier on the Saryu-Yamuna train on December 22. After she was stuck for an extra 10 hours, the former Punjab minister made a mobile video. In the video, the BJP leader was heard saying that the Government and PM Modi should take pity on the common people as the trains are completed in the dilapidated state. Chawla who was also a former college professor also stated that the train changed its direction and was running without informing the passengers. Chawla also complained that there was no food arrangement in the train from people spending an extra 10 hours. According to the former Punjab minister, she even called on railway customer care numbers and even mailed to Goyal, but no action was taken. She asked the Prime Minister to travel on these trains so that he should get to know what masses go through. She also highlighted the lack of waiting rooms for passengers at stations.
Meanwhile, yesterday, at least four trains were cancelled and 12 delayed due to heavy fog in several parts of northern India. The cancelled trains included Mahabodhi Express, Gomti Express, Hari Har Express and Anand Vihar Sealdah Express. Earlier, Northern Railways announced the cancellation of 48 trains between December 2018 and February 2019, while reducing the frequency of 20 trains.
