Bhubaneshwar, January 21: A scuffle broke out between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Woman wing workers and police personnel in Bhubaneshwar during a protest over Pipili gang rape-and-murder case on Monday. In the 30-second-clip posted by news agency ANI, BJP Women Wing leaders can be seen fighting with police forces. The Mahila Morcha squatted on the road and raised slogans against the Odisha government for delaying justice to the Pipili gang rape-and-murder case victim. The incident caused traffic snarls in Bhubaneshwar, so police officials came into action. According to sources, some BJP women workers are also arrested. Pipili rape and murder case, dates back to 2011 when a 19-year-old was found unconscious in a paddy field in her village on 28 November 2011. Later, the media examinations revealed that Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped. She succumbed in a coma while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in 2012 triggering a massive outrage across the country. Then agricultural minister, Pradeep Maharathy, had to quit following the allegations that he was trying to save the accused person.
