Bhubaneshwar, January 21: A scuffle broke out between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Woman wing workers and police personnel in Bhubaneshwar during a protest over Pipili gang rape-and-murder case on Monday. The Mahila Morcha squatted on the road and raised slogans against the Odisha government for delaying justice to the Pipili gang rape-and-murder case victim. The incident caused traffic snarls in Bhubaneshwar, so police officials came into action. Pipili rape and murder case, dates back to 2011 when a 19-year-old was found unconscious in a paddy field in her village on 28 November 2011. Later, the media examinations revealed that Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped. She succumbed in a coma while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in 2012 triggering a massive outrage across the country. Then agricultural minister, Pradeep Maharathy, had to quit following the allegations that he was trying to save the accused person.
