Pigeon 'Punished' by Woman in Mumbai, Hanged Upside Down From 5th Floor of Building, Police File Case

Mumbai, February 14: Pigeons are a common sight in Mumbai and Mumbaikars also have a special relation with the bird considering their presence in the city. However, a resident in Kalyan earned the wreath of animal and bird lovers after she hanged a pigeon upside down from the fifth floor of the building. A resident of Kalyan, the accused has been booked by the police. An animal rights activist was told about the incident who then complained to police about the cruelty done to the bird.

The animal rights activist was shocked to learn about the incident. The accused tied a pigeon upside down from the window of the house for several hours.

The bird kept hanging from the window for seven to eight hours and even hurt itself while struggling to rescue itself.

The accused reportedly did this to punish the bird for entering its house repeatedly. An FIR has been registered under the Section 11(1) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (1960), said the Times of India report. However, the woman has not been arrested as yet. The bird died of the torture.
