Picnic Turns Tragic in Rajasthan; 5 Teachers and 3 Students Killed in Accident As Car Collides With Truck

Reports inform that accident took place when a car they were travelling in collided with a truck in Udaipur district's Salumbar area.

Jaipur, October 13: At least eight people have been killed in a road accident in Rajasthan after the car they were travelling in collided with a truck on Saturday. According to a tweet by ANI, the eight members who lost their lives in a car accident in Udaipur district's Salumbar area, included five women and 3 children. As soon as the incident was reported, Police rushed at the spot to take a stock of the situation. The investigation is underway. The injured ones were rushed to a hospital in Udaipur.

Reports inform that all the eight passengers travelling in the car were going for a picnic when the accident happened near Khairad area. According to a PTI report, the three students who lost their lives have been identified as Lakshya Yadav (4), Gauri Chaudhary (7), Upendra Singh (5). The teachers Manisha Goswami (28), Saroj Yadav (30), Monika Khateek (22), Geeta Ladauti and the owner of the school they taught, Santosh Rajput, died in the accident. A data released by the government on Wednesday showed that over-speeding, mobile phone usage while driving and drivers’ fatigue caused the maximum number of road accidents in India in 2017.  The report further states that over three out of four of the accidents happened because of over speeding, nearly one in five road mishaps took place because of using mobile phones during driving.
