Petrol Prices Hiked, Diesel Becomes Cheaper on March 11; Check Fuel Rates in Metros

New Delhi, March 11: Petrol prices in India rose about six paise, while diesel prices dipped by 11 paise across metropolitan cities on Monday. In Mumbai, petrol was retailed at Rs 78.09 per litre with an increase of 15 paise. Meanwhile, in Delhi, petrol was sold at Rs 72.47 per litre which was also 15 paise costlier than yesterday. Similarly, Chennai witnessed a rise in petrol prices by 16 paise and it was sold at Rs 75.25 per litre, whereas in Kolkata petrol price stood at Rs 74.54 per litre with an increase of 15 paise. Meanwhile, diesel prices were slashed on Monday. In Mumbai, one litre of diesel was sold at Rs 70.65 with a decrease of 11 paise, whereas in Delhi one litre of diesel price remained almost same as it was retailed at Rs 67.44 per litre with a negligible decrease of one paise. Similarly, in Kolkata, diesel prices were slashed by one paise only, and it was retailed at Rs 69.23 per litre. In Chennai, diesel prices stood at Rs 71.27 per litre with a decrease of 11 paise. The rise in fuel prices can be largely attributed to the increase in crude oil costs. Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday conveyed India's concerns over rising crude oil prices and its effects on the domestic fuel rates during his meeting here with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Energy, Khalid Al-Falih. Since June, 2017, fuel prices in the country are revised every day at 6 am. Earlier, the fuel prices used to change on a fortnightly basis.
