Petrol, Diesel Prices Rise For Fourth Consecutive Day on January 13; Check Fuel Rates in Metros

Due to this rise in rates of petrol and diesel, the price crossed Rs 70 in all metros, again.

Mumbai, January 13: The rise in the price of fuel in major metros continued for the fourth consecutive day, leading to a wave of anger among the consumers. In December last year, though there was a decrease in the price, but since the second week of January, the fuel prices saw continued to rise.

The price of petrol saw a rise of 48 paise in two metros – Mumbai and Kolkata, while for Delhi the surge is 49 paise and for Chennai, the price was raised by 52 paise. Due to this, the price of petrol in four metros – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai – reached Rs 69.75, Rs 75.39, Rs 71.87 and Rs 72.39 per litre respectively. Similar was the rise in the price of diesel in four metros. The price of diesel was increased by 59 paise in Delhi and Kolkata, while in Mumbai it was raised by 62 paise and for Chennai, it was 63 paise. Due to the surge, the price of diesel in four metros – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai – reached Rs 63.69, Rs 66.66, Rs 65.46 and Rs 67.25 per litre respectively.

The continuous rise in the price of petrol and diesel are taking place since October, 2018, after Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced a reduction of Rs 2.50 per litre on both petrol and diesel prices. He had requested the state governments too to reduce the fuel prices.
