Mumbai, December 3: The fuel prices continue to dip in the first week of December in major metros of the country. The price for petrol dipped by 30 paise in the national capital and while for Mumbai it was decreased by 29 paise. With this, the new rates in New Delhi reached to Rs 72.23 per litre, while in Mumbai it is being sold at Rs 77.80 per litre, according to the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) data.

The diesel price in both the metros was also reduced. The price for diesel was slashed by 33 paise in New Delhi, and for Mumbai, the reduction was 35 paise. The new rates for diesel in Delhi came down to Rs 67.02 per litre, and in Mumbai, it is being sold at Rs 70.15 per litre. The price for petrol in Chennai and Kolkata too recorded a decrease. In Chennai, the price of petrol slashed by 32 paise, and in Kolkata, it was reduced by 29 paise. The new rates at which petrol is being sold in Chennai is Rs 74.94, and in Kolkata, it is being sold at Rs 74.25 per litre.

Not only petrol, but the diesel price also declined in the two metros. The price of diesel was slashed by 35 paise in Chennai and 33 paise in Kolkata. Due to this, the diesel price in Chennai came down to Rs 70.77 per litre, while in Kolkata it is being sold at Rs 68.75 per litre.

There has been a continuous dip in the fuel prices since the third week of last month, due to the decrease in crude oil prices. Previously, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had requested the state governments to take initiatives to decrease the prices of petrol and diesel. With this decrease, it is expected that the rates of essential commodities will also decline, giving respite to consumers.
